Method

  1. Peel the onions and halve them crosswise.

  2. Mix the oil, breadcrumbs, cheese and cream into a smooth paste. Season with sage, pepper and salt.

  3. Spread the cut surfaces of the onions with the paste and place in a greased ovenproof dish.

  4. Bake in the oven at 200°–225° for about 45 minutes.
